Joe was born on 13/01/1947, in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. He was baptised in St Joseph's Cathedral, Trivandrum. His father, Vincent Motha passed away when Joe was just 3 month's old. Joe was brought up by his widowed mum, who lavished a lot of love & affection on him. His mother Philomena Motha was a very kind & loving person & it was from his mother that he learned the qualities of kindness & loyalty & became such a kind, loving person himself. Joe had 4 brothers & 1 sister. Joe started his early school life at Holy Angels Convent & then went on to St Joseph's School, Trivandrum. After leaving Secondary school with a 1st class, he went on to do a year of Pre-University at Intermediate College, Trivandrum. It was at this stage that his interst in learning the guitar gave birth. He self taught to play the guitar & his passion for music started. Even with all the time spend playing his guitar Joe passed out with good grades & get admission into the Trivandrum Medical College.
